Buying an outboard motor safely

What to confirm before paying for an outboard motor online, how our own ordering process works, and how to report a fraudulent copy of our site.

Confirm who you are buying from

Our only website is outboardtrading.com and our only contact address is info@outboardtrading.com. Our site has previously been copied by third parties, so before paying anyone, check the web address carefully and confirm the email address matches the one above.

If you have been contacted by someone using our name from another address, or you believe you have already paid a fraudulent copy of our site, contact us at info@outboardtrading.com so we can help and report it.

Checklist before you pay

  • You have the full model code, horsepower, shaft length and model year in writing.
  • You have a written total: motor price plus freight to your address.
  • You know the stock status of that exact listing, not a similar one.
  • You have not been pressured to pay by an unusual or irreversible method.
  • You keep a copy of all correspondence.

How ordering works here

We agree the motor, the specification and the delivered cost by email before any payment is taken, so nothing is charged before you have seen the full figure for your location. Ask us anything you want confirmed in writing — a serious seller will put it in writing.

Report a problem

Suspected impersonation, a suspicious payment request in our name, or anything that looks wrong on this site: email info@outboardtrading.com. We would rather answer a question that turns out to be nothing than have a buyer lose money.
